Cryosurgery is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the precise application of extreme cold. The process is called cryo-necrosis, tissue destruction by freezing. Rapid freezing to 27 °C and more will produce Cryonecrosis in all benign human tissues and ice crystals will form. The ice crystals break the cell membrane, destroy the cells organelles and protein matrixes. Water then rushes into the surrounding area causing blistering and disruption of the local blood supply.
Cryosurgery is quicker than other treatments and patients can be in and out in seconds. It requires no anaesthesia and has minimal scaring. There are no limitations on activity except to protect the area from damage or abrasion, they can work, bath, swim, immediately after the treatment. There’s no cut, no bleeding, no sutures and no risk of infection.
Most unwanted benign skin lesions can be removed such as verrucae, skin tags, solar lentigo, pigmented spots, actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, haemangioma, molluscum contagiosum, condyloma, plantar warts, and more.
Care should be taken when treating areas with very thin skin and areas where the colour is cosmetically important such as face, ears, scrotum and lateral surface of fingers.
No, there is no scarring like there would be with a traditional surgical facelift as there is no scalpel, pulling or removal of skin involved.
The treatment can’t be compared to a surgical facelift due to it being non- invasive. However, the results can be impressive and does give the effect of lifting and sculpting as well as dramatically reducing lines and wrinkles. This is the most advanced non-invasive device led treatment technology on the aesthetic market today.
There is a sensation but in no means painful. On average the discomfort level on the scale of 1 to 10 (10 being maximum pain) is around a 3-4.
Thanks to advanced technology today and the treatment involving a mechanical device rather than the traditional method of using a manual, derma-roller, there is minimal discomfort. This means we are able to go deeper without the need of numbing cream. It is also a very quick procedure with the needling time only lasting 10-15 minutes for the entire face.
The face will be very red on the day but in most cases the following day the skin has returned to usual. It is important to be gentle with the skin for the next few days without the use of AHA’s, BHA’s and retinols. Instead replacing them with gentle soothing cleansers and recovery creams and most importantly an SPF 50.
Like most rejuvenation treatments full effects of the treatment can be seen after 4 weeks, however the skin will feel smoother, plumper and more refined from the following day.
Yes and no. This depends on the type of chemical agent used and the PH level of the peel and the percentage of active chemical agent. Typically, the higher the percentage and the lower pH the deeper the peel. Some chemical agents are stronger in nature than others. Therefore, the stronger the peel based on these factors, the more sensation. This can range from tingling to a hot sensation. This feeling doesn’t last long and is reduced by the way of cooling masks afterwards. A course of light to medium peels is recommended for best results.
The peeling usually starts after 48 hours and lasts for 3-7 days depending on the depth of the peel and the formulation.
Yes, however we always recommend waiting at least a month using an SPF 50 From the following day. Using a high SPF is paramount to stop the signs of aging and keeping the results of your peel.
The treatment is very fast and doesn’t take longer than 15 minutes per treatment.
On the day the skin will look red at the treatment site. This redness subsides over the next 3-7 days. In some cases, “crusting” can be seen on the surface of the skin and this looks much like dry skin which reduces over the course of a few days. Being gentle with the skin in the days following as well as avoiding heat and strenuous exercise is recommended.
There is no scarring after the treatment. The treatment is very safe with a very low output of energy protecting the skin surrounding the veins.
Treatments take a maximum of 20 minutes per session.
There is no downtime with this treatment and the skin generally looks calmer immediately afterwards.
Depending on the condition being treated, yes, the results will last. If the condition is persistent such as stage 4 and 5 acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea with pustules and papules there will need to be a maintenance programme in place and it is recommended to use the Dermalux in addition to clinical homecare products to assist and maintain the results.
Results usually last around 9- 12 months depending on lifestyle and genetic factors. It is then recommended to come back for a top up session once results start to dissipate.
The skin will look red immediately afterwards and this lasts a maximum of 20 minutes in most cases. You can resume normal activities immediately afterwards.
This depends of severity of the flaccidity of the skin and grade of cellulite. A minimum of 8 sessions is recommended for best results.
